Jonas Alaska
On a [C]day just like this on the [Am]ocean four [F]years
ago [C]now
The w[C]ind was to strong the [Am]waves were to big
three young [F]men were thrown of the [C]bow
and [Fmaj7]I was at home they were fighting towards
mother [G7]earth
and [Am7]two of them died only [Em7]twenty years after
their [F]birth
in oc[C]tober oh
And the[C] last of the three was left[Am] hopelessly
[F]crying for [C]help
The wi[C]nd was screaming but the s[Am]ilence was
stronger as he s[F]tood with his feet in the k[C]elp
[Fmaj7]The sun was still up but it was night time when
I heard who [G7]died
I [Am7]only knew eric cause o[Em7]ne time he gave me a
[F]ride
in oc[C]tober oh
[C]Now I didn't know him well but I [Am]liked him he
was [F]one of those g[C]uys
that e[C]veryone knew either l[Am]iked him or not
cause there were [F]no sign of lies in his e[C]yes
[Fmaj7]I was seventeen years old the last time he
spoke to[G7] me
[Am7]Now I'm twenty one and I'm [Em7]older than he'll
ever [F]be
in oc[C]tober oh
My [C]father is his mothers [Am]cousin so t[F]hat makes
us [C]kin
I [C]remember those family d[Am]inners and the old
peoples [F]funerals again and a[C]gain
[Fmaj7]so strange looking round in the crowd when he
wouldn't be [G7]found
[Am7]oh the look on the face of his [Em7]brother when
they lowered him [C]down
in oc[C]tober oh
Oc[C]tober is the best turns [Am]roads into b[F]eautiful
t[C]rails
The [C]rime on the windows the l[Am]eafs on your coat
the [F]frost on the cars and the [C]rails
[Fmaj7]Still out on the ocean those memories are
bringing me [G7]down
but [Am7]I've heard there's a symphony [Em7]playing you
to sleep when you [F]drown
Oc[C]tober again and again
